Suggest Treatment To Overcome GAD And Social Anxiety
I feel that I am suffering from GAD as well as social anxiety. When I walk into a room full of people I feel that everyone is staring at me. I have many fears while driving in a vehicle or flying in a plane that it is going to crash. Sometimes I do get shortness of breath and considering my work place is a small office making constant out bound phone calls I feel as if everybody in the room is always listening to me. I tend to move around alot ex. flip a pen around, shake my leg, I just can't seem to sit still. I get extremely nervous about meeting new people and find it hard to hold a conversation without my heart beating out of my chest and getting flush in the face. My overall question is do you think this is something to do with anxiety and if so what are my options. I do not have any health insurance and would like to try some form of medication to ease my stress and anxiousness but how do I go about doing so?
You have symptoms of Social anxiety and generalised anxiety disorder. The fears while driving in car or in plane are anticipatory anxiety. Shortness of breath and shakiness occur due to anxiety. As social anxiety is severe so I would advise you to consult a psychiatrist for treatment. For symptomatic control like in presentation or when you need to face many people drugs like Propranolol can be used. The drug help to reduce symptoms of severe anxiety and decreases heartbeat, sweating, tremors etc. For generalised anxiety treatment medicines like SSRI can help. Fluoxetine, Paroxetine etc are commonly used.
Apart from that relaxation exercises, yoga, meditation, progressive muscle relaxation exercises, breathing exercises help to reduce symptoms of yoga.
Consult a psychiatrist for treatment and prescription of these drugs.
Thanks, hope this helps you
