Dear Ma'm
Thanks for writing to HCM.
An LDL cholesterol level of 200 mg% is definitely a valid indication for statin therapy, irrespective of any other consideration. As per the latest advisory issued by ACC (american college of cardiology 2013), LDL cholesterol of more than 190 mg% is one of the four major indications for statin therapy. If your doctor has started a statin , you must take it.
Sincerely
Sukhvinder
