Hello there,
I can understand that you are upset with knowing that you have diabetes. however let me assure you that having diabetes does not mean life is going downhill, in fact studies have shown that diabetics, because of the changes they incorporate to diet and lifestyle after being diagnosed, leads them to live a healthier life compared to normal subjects. But yes diabetes has set in and you need to alter your ways, bring in some discipline in terms of diet and exercise. A lot about diabetic treatment depends on you and you can avoid a lot of complications if you take medicines correctly which can be gradually reduced if blood sugars come under control. However there is no alternative to medicines with the kind of blood sugars you are having right now. After starting therapy and diet plus exercise you need to check your blood sugars regularly. Once they are under control your physician will reduce the medicines as warranted and you can lead a healthy lifestyle. So do visit a diabetologist who can examine you and guide you through the treatment for diabetes.
Take care.
