General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Disc herniation can be managed by physiotherapy, muscle strengthening exercises, NSAIDs and muscle relaxants. And you didn't mentioned where you have slipped disc. If it is on cervical area then wearing soft cervical collars will be helpful. If in lumbar area then lumbar supporting belts will be helpful. Avoid lifting heavy weights. Sleep on hard mattress. Avoid pillows and use orthopedic pillows. Physiotherapy like TENS or short wave diathermy is helpful also. A consultation with orthopedician and physiotherapist is well appreciated. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
