Suggest Treatment For Wheezing And Fever In A Patient With Influenza Type A

I am 52 yr old female diagnosed with influenza type a and bronchitis on fri. Dr gave me Tamiflu 75 mg which I have had 3 doses and cough meds. I feel worse today slight wheezing in my chest, fever is down from 101 to 99 and I m not coughing that much. Is it smart to start an antibiotic at this point? I have Minocycline on hand 500 mg. thank you!

Hi!
I had gone through your query and understand your concern.
I don't recommend you to start an antibiotic because Influenza is a viral infection and antibiotic are used only to treat bacterial infections, they fight and kill only bacteria and are useless against viruses.
People with the flu are advised to get plenty of rest, drink plenty of liquids, avoid using alcohol and tobacco and, if necessary, take medications such as acetaminophen (paracetamol) to relieve the fever and muscle aches associated with the flu.

Just give some time and this symptoms will go away gradually and you will feel better soon.

Take care.
