Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a twelve year old granddaughter who up until a week ago was in perfect health. She has been unable to walk for the last week. She complains of weakness and pain in her legs. She is being treated for Guillian-Barre, but all test have come back negative. What could this be?
Hi...the other possible neurological condition which can mimic GBS is acute disseminated encephalo myelitis (ADEM).... Or other forms of peripheral neuropathy. But the treatment is slightly different. If it's GBS the main modality of treatment will be IVIg...but if it's ADEM, the main modality of treatment will be intravenous MPS.
