Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son is 8 1/2 and is vomiting. He complained that his stomach felt like it was being squeezed. The first time he vomited, it was his lunch and stomach acid. The second time, he had only taken two bites of his dinner, so it was mainly stomach acid.
Hi . Welcome to HCM. The symptoms which you mentioned are vomiting two times and pain abdomen which is of squeezing type in a 8 years 6 months child. This could be caused by many conditions from gastritis to obstruction in intestines. If I was the treating doctor and the child's general condition is good ,I would have started with tablet ondansetron 4mg three times a day which prevents vomiting ,tablet hyoscine 10mg three times a day which relieves squeezing of intestines and oral rehydration solution . But if he is having severe pain and looking ill and dehydrated by having a dry tongue or dry skin ,I would have started him on iv fluids and got a x ray film of abdomen in erect posture and an ultrasound scan of abdomen to rule out potential causes that could be emergency apart from giving inj ondansetron and inj hyoscine and treat further depending on the result of investigations. Hope that clarifies how the condition has to be dealt with. Thank you.
