Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Our 9 months daughter had last night 40.4 fever and we rushed her to the hospital. Before starting from home we gave her ibuprufen, but she had a motion and wewere not sure how much medicine was retained in the body. She has fever since wednesday and no other signs of cough, cold etc. The doctor said she has a virus infection. I am just too worried about her, she has ben having frequent motions than normal and sometimes semi- watery, once it was totally green and sticky. We are sticking to paracetamol and ibuprufen for her fever. I only hope she recovers soon.
Hi...for you to be more comfortable I will tell you how a viral illness behaves - Fever of few days without any localizing signs could as well a viral illness. Usually rather than fever, what is more important is the activity of the child, in between 2 fever episodes on the same day. If the kid is active and playing around when there is no fever, it is probably viral illness and it doesn't require antibiotics at all. Once viral fever comes it will there for 4-7 days. So do not worry about duration if the kid is active. Regards - Dr. Sumanth
