Suggest Treatment For Vertigo

I am on midodrine 2.5mg 3x a day my dr told me to go up to 5 mg in morning and and stick to my 2.5 for the rest of the day I started the new dose on the 20th and notice I was feeling more dizzy and weird so I called him and he told me to go back down so I did . All weekend I could not get off the couch felt worse . I ended up going to ER yesterday becausey heart felt like it was fluttering and irregular . The ER doctor noticed I had a rash all over my back and chest and didn t think it was from the midodrine he thought I was having vertigo. He took my blood was a little off . Today I continued on my regular dose when I took it this morning I felt dizzy then when I took it at 12:30 after a 1 in a half I ended up with the fluttering and irregular heart beat again and very dizzy more then ever .. I looked up the side effects of the midodrine and it said the same thing I was describing . Do u think it is the midodrine is my question

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Midodrine is a vasopressor/antihypotensive agent and given for dysautonomia and orthostatic hypotension.
This indicates that you may be suffering from orthostatic hypotension which may be the reason for your vertigo at the moment.
Dizziness and fluttering and hear beat can be due the medicine or in response to correct your problems.
The reduced blood supply to the balancing can be another reason for your problems.
I would advise in such a situation the following:
First of all to get an appointment of a Cardiologist for thorough cardiac check up. Stop Midodrine till it is certain that it is not causing the symptoms including the rash over the body.
Consult your Doctor again to be certain of the future course of action.
