A urinary tract infection (UTI) does not affect one's chances of concieving. Your doctor was right in telling you that women usually get their first episode of UTI after marriage or when they first become sexually active.

If you are not already pregnant you can take SEPTRAN twice daily for 3 days or (alternatively) Norflox 400 mg twice daily for 5-7 days.
