Suggest Treatment For Upper Respiratory Infection And Nasal Congestion
I have an upper respiratory infection with chest and nasal congestion of a yellowish brown color. I have a deep cough and laryiginitis. I am out of town. I have called my doctor s office 3 times and have emailed my doctor twice with no avail. I have some ciproflaxin with me in case I get a UTI. Can I take it for what is wrong with me now? Last year I got the same thing and the doctor told me to take musinex. This did not work and I only got worse. I ended up being very sick for 6 months, went thru 3 rounds of antibiotics and 2 rounds prednazone. I just can t let that happen again.
Ciprofloxacin can be used to help if you have a bacterial infection present. It can be used along with the mucinex or another mucolytic (medication to help break up the mucus so that it can be expelled easier).
Topical and oral decongestants would help the nasal symptoms. Eg of topical decongestants are normal saline and otrivine Oral decongestants are phenylephrine or pseudoephrine.. These do not usually come on their own but in combination with other cough/cold meds.
I hope this helps
