Hi, I am a type 2 diabetic that has been on steroids for a hip issue. Today I am having trouble controlling my sugar. Its has been no lower than 350, peaking at 508. I am on glyboride and metphormin and have increased my dose like I have in the past but still can t get it below 350, what should I do.

Steroids make it difficult to control blood sugars. Ask your doctor if he can prescribe you a non-steroidal anti inflammatory drug (NSAID) as managing diabetes with steriods is posing a problem. You can consult your treating diabetologist for initiation of insulin to lower blood glucose. Try to increase physical activity levels and control portion size of meals to lower blood glucose. Monitor your blood glucose regularly using a glucometer and try to control blood sugar through diet and activity.
