Suggest Treatment For Ulcerative Colitis

My 36 year old daughter-in-law just had a permanent colostomy done to remove her colon and rectum due to ulcerative colitis. She previously had a fistula, meaning Crohn s as well. She has tried humera and remicaid without success. What happens now if she starts having problems in the small bowel or esophagus?

Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood the concerns.
Permanent colostomy for ulcerative colitis wherein total colectomy is done gives better results as this causes inflammation of the colon in most of the cases and rarely the terminal ileum or esophagus hence not much to worry about.
Ulcerative colitis itself can cause fistula and Crohn's is usually a Histopathological diagnosis and hence if the report does not say so, nothing to worry about.
Humera and Remicaid may now work better or may not be needed.
There are also other ways to improve the immunity like naturotherapy, Yoga, Acupressure.
Diet changes to suit her the best.
Change of atmosphere, place, avoidance of stress and anxiety also help a lot.
Steroids whenever required helps too.
