Suggest Treatment For Trigeminal Neuralgia

Hi,We have the same surnames. Hahaha ! I have a decaying tooth and the dentist has recommended a root canal a while ago, I am planning to get it done in the next couple of months. However, 15 minutes ago, I got a severe electric shock sensation around the gum and that particular tooth. Cant understand what it is. Never had this feeling before and it's been happening every 2-3 minutes for the last 15 minutes. I tried looking up this issue, looks like something called trigeminal neuralgia. What do i do to fix this ?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain if you had a bout of severe pain along in the gum of the decayed tooth only that is already indicated for root canal treatment, then it can be due to tooth infection only and not Trigeminal Neuralgia as having a single bout of severe pain along with having a decayed tooth is not a direct indication of Neurotic pain..

Secondly Trigeminal Neuralgia related pain can in short bouts many times a day and will involve portions of a side of face and commonly not a single tooth..

You should get the root canal treatment of the tooth done and along with it you can also get the tooth capped for improving its strength and functioning..
Avoid eating from the painful side..

For sharing the x rays and getting a proper detained discussion of your problem and guidance for how to proceed for appropriate treatment you can ask me a direct question by visiting my profile via this URL:
