As per your complain if you had a bout of
severe pain along in the gum of the decayed tooth only that is already indicated for
root canal treatment, then it can be due to
tooth infection only and not
Trigeminal Neuralgia as having a single bout of severe pain along with having a decayed tooth is not a direct indication of Neurotic pain..
Secondly Trigeminal Neuralgia related pain can in short bouts many times a day and will involve portions of a side of face and commonly not a single tooth..
You should get the root canal treatment of the tooth done and along with it you can also get the tooth capped for improving its strength and functioning..
Avoid eating from the painful side..
