General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query I understand your concern. For pain relief you can -
- Give complete rest to the shoulder for at least 2 days with ice pack & over the counter pain medicine.
- After that start doing non painful movements very slowly. Do not use sling.. let the shoulder hang down & move gently . Ice pack / hot fomentation
during or after the movement.
The throbbing pain is due to pressure on nerve --relieved by anti inflammatory medicines/ vitamin B12 as per advise of the surgeon.
Throbbing pain at night can follow a sleeping posture causing continuous pressure on nerve. Can be reduced by sleeping on opposite side of injury/ making the arm comfortable with help of pillows. . The pain medicine or steroids ( as per advise of treating doctor ) would help,
Please consult an orthopedic surgeon.
thanks
