Suggest Treatment For Tooth Infection

Antibiotic is not helping my tooth infection. My jaw is swollen and I can't open my mouth very far. The dentist pulled teeth before clearing up my infection and now it is worse. What can I do?
I was on penicillin VK for 10 days, now on augmentin 875 for the last 4 days and still no help. Swelling and pain is increasing and can't open mouth or eat without pain.
thanks, Cheryl

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

It looks like due to tooth infection there has been spread of infection to the soft tissues leading to Cellulitis and space infection..
It is the cause for swelling and difficulty in mouth opening..
You will have to continue taking Augmentin and along with it anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen and serratiopeptidases can be advised..
If the swelling is severe injectable or intravenous antibiotics and a steroid shot can be given..
If there is pus accumulation then Incision and Drainage can be done to drain off pus and reduce swelling and infection faster..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
