Hi,
As per your complain it seems that your daughter have an inflammation in throat secondary to infection and it is leading to swollen tonsils causing
Tonsillitis. It can be either due to bacterial or viral
throat infection. I would suggest you to consult an otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a throat swab culture can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly. She can be advised:
-Antibiotics like
Augmentin OR
Azithromycin to resolve the infection.
- Anti-inflammatory painkillers like
Ibuprofen can be taken to relive pain.
- Doing warm saline gargles, steam inhalation and using a humidifier in your room can be very much relieving.
- You can also suck throat lozenges to soothe the throat.
- Gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine.
- Gargle with antiseptic solution like few drops of betadine in water.
- Chew Vitamin C pellets to boost up the immunity.
- Avoid spicy and chilled foods.
Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks and regards,
Dr. Honey Nandwani Arora
