Suggest Treatment For The Laceration On The Tonsil

I had surgery earlier today. I was intubated for the surgery. I now have a large laceration on my right tonsil. I'm in severe pain 8/10, having trouble swallowing, and obviously coughing is also very difficult. The anesthesiologist didn't mention this, I'm not sure he knows. I've bled quite a bit as well. What can/should I do about this? I can't eat and drinking is horrible. I've tried throat spray, lozenges, ice cream, and warm broth. Nothing is helping! Please help me!!

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that during intubation your tonsil has got lacerated and it has led to severe inflammation and tear over the tonsil and it is leading to pain and dysphagia [difficulty in swallowing]..
I would suggest you to consult an ENT expert or your treating surgeon and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation has to be done..
You can be advised to gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine to relieve pain especially during eating..
You will also be advised anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen to reduce pain and inflammation..
Take more and more of fluids that too cool..
You can also be advised injectable pain relievers and a steroid shot for faster relief..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
