I read your question carefully and I understand your concern. Tension type headaches are usually treated with over the counter painkillers like Ibuprofen which usually have good efficacy. Also stress relaxation techniques are helpful. If the pain is frequently recurrent or persistent preventive treatment with tricyclic antidepressants is used like amitriptyline. Of course that is assuming your self diagnosis is right. If the pain is persistent you should have an evaluation for other possible factors like high blood pressure, sinusitis etc. I hope to have been of help.
