Suggest Treatment For Tachycardia

70 yr old thin woman with tachycartia. I read the blogs but none are like mine. My episodes last for 6 - 8 hrs. of my heart racing and being short to breath. I have been to the ER three times taken all the tests and my heart is fine. My cardiologist has me on Cartia 120 mg XT caps. Is this abnormal? It is now taking me a couple of days to recoup from an episode.

Tachycardia could be a serious condition and I would like to know if you had the tachycardia while you were in the ER. An EKG during the episode can help diagnose your problem. If the episodes are sporadic a Holter monitor maybe needed to help discover the cause of the tachycardia. The Holter monitor is worn for 24-48 hours and whenever you have these palpitations you push a button. This will help identify your tachycardia.

Your doctor di prescribe a medication that help slow down your heart. If these episodes continue while on Cartia he may need to increase your dose or add other medications.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help
