Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Hand, Foot And Mouth Disease
My son was diagnosed today with hands foot and mouth disease.. He has refused everything I have tried giving him, has had no more than 3 ounces of formula, I have tried forcing it down him and he just screams in pain when I try. He has not pooped in the last 24 hours and I m kind of confused at what to do. I have talked to his doctor and she keeps telling me to force liquids down him and it s not that easy forcing them when he cries in pain when I do. Any suggestions?
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM The sores that usually accompany this disease condition may be very painful. This may explain why the child is over crying and can not eat. Hand-foot-and-mouth disease usually doesn't need any special treatment and symptomatic management will do. You can use home care to help relieve your child's symptoms. -For pain and fever, give your child acetaminophen or ibuprofen -Don't give your child acidic or spicy foods and drinks, such as orange juice as may make the sores more painful -Offer the child plenty of fluids.Since the child can only cry now and may not eat or drink, i will suggest you give him some time to rest or may be sleep.Start with a pain drug like tylenol. This will help in his pains. You may then try fluids and food again after while avoiding acidic or spicy stuffs. Hope this will help you Best regards
