Suggest Treatment For Swollen Tonsils

I am 24 about 120 pounds, two weeks ago I was treated for tonsils infection, which I had white spots, extremely swollen and was given antibiotics. Now, my tonsils are starting to get swollen and bought ibuprofen to reduce swelling. What can I do to treat this?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you have a recurring throat infection leading to swollen tonsils causing Tonsillitis..
It is most commonly due to bacterial infection and white spots are pus pockets formed secondary to bacterial infection..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and throat swab culture can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
In case of bacterial infection you will be advised to take a course of antibiotics like Augmentin, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, do warm saline gargles, steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room..
Sucking throat lozenges one in every 4 to 5 hours can help in soothing the throat..
You can chew Vitamin C pellet as it helps in boosting immunity and help in resolving infection faster..
You should avoid spicy and chilled foods and take a soft bland diet..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
