Hi. I was wondering what it means if the case buds at the back of my tounge are enlarged and one of my tonsils are swollen. I went to the doctors last week and he said it was an allergic reaction and that it would go away I have no known allergies and haven t changed anything or added something different to my diet lately.
As per your complain swollen taste buds and swollen tonsils might be due to allergy but it can also be due to throat infection leading to tonsillitis and the infection can be either bacterial or viral in nature.. As allergy is suspected you can take anti-allergics for 3 days like Levocetrizine or diphenhydramine [benadryl]. You should also take a short course of antibiotics like Azithromycin for 5 days, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, do warm saline gargles and chew a vitamin C pellet daily..her irritation of the throat and tongue.. Avoid spicy and hard foods to prevent furt Gradually the swollen taste buds as well as tonsillar inflammation will subside in almost within a week..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora
