Suggest Treatment For Swollen Lymph Nodes On The Neck

my 13 month old baby has a lump on her neck on the side. I took her to her doctor who felt it and said it may be a swollen lymph node and to watch it. It should be gone inside a couple months. My husband is furious that no tests were done. Should we get a second opinion?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi & Welcome.
I appreciate your concern for your beloved baby.
Swollen lymph nodes on the neck could be due some underlying infections arising from the throat, scalp, neck, etc. They can also be enlarged in certain chronic infections like tuberculosis or certain cancers such as lymphoma.
Hence, I would advise you to take your baby for certain lab tests such as CBC, ESR, fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) of the affected lymph node, Chest X-ray to rule out the possibility of infection or cancers.

Hope this will help.
