Hi, I am Dr. Kaushik. I am a diabetologist and a preventive medicine specialist. Sorry for your condition; but of course you are resilient enough to fight back.
You haven't mentioned whether the swelling increases on long-term standing (dependent edema). Furthermore, the red colour warrants further investigation to rule out cellulitis. Posibilities are DVT, Cellulitis, Congestive heart failure, Diabetic Kidney Disease. Please have the following investigations done at the earliest and consult Health care magic or your family doctor: Complete hemogram, CRP, Urea, Creatinine. After having the reports and depending upon clinical examination, it will be decided whether you need to have Echocardiography, Doppler US scan of the lower limb vessels done. Be careful regarding any sudden onset shortness of breath, chest symptom or fever. They may need further workup and in patient treatment. Thanks and regards.
