Suggest Treatment For Swollen Knee

My knee & the area just below it (front) is chronically swollen. I have recently been prescribed compression socks for swollen legs. (I m on my feet a great deal at work.). The sock have not affected the knee swelling at all. Any Idea what could be up with my knee?
