Suggest Treatment For Swollen Gums During Teething In A Child

My 16 month old has 8 teeth currently, 4 top, 4 bottom. His gums in his mouth have been extremly swollen for the past 5 months now, and no new teeth have come in yet. I know it can take a while for babies to get teeth, but this has been going on for so long (irritability, sleepless nights, biting, ect.) I don't know what to do, its becomming harder and harder, especially at meal time when his food options are limited because he has no back teeth at all.

Hello. Welcome to HCM. When baby is teething all this symptoms are normal. In order to relieve his pain i would suggest you to give him some teething toys during the day. You can take a cold cloth and rub his gums or if the baby has much pain you can take him some Acetaminophen syrup. A teething gel is also a good option. You can put some of this gel in baby's gum every night before going to bed.
