Suggest Treatment For Swollen Glands In Neck And Headache

Hello. The glands in my neck (just under my jaw) have been swollen/swelling for about six months now. It's worse at night when I lay down, I can feel swelling near the back of my earlobe too. I'm not sick and haven't been for a long time. I feel as if I'm being lightly choked, and I've had headaches a lot for a couple of months also. I am not over weight, I do not smoke, I'm 58, female, and my overall health is good. Could this be a thyroid problem?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.

As per your complain swollen glands just under the jaw along with under the back of earlobe seems to be swollen submandibular lymph nodes along with post auricular lymph nodes.
A swelling just under the jaw can also be a swollen submandibular salivary gland..
It does not seems to be due to thyroid as swelling due to thyroid gland is in the middle of neck around Adam's apple..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and an x ray or MRI can help in diagnosis..
In case if it is swollen salivary gland then it has to be ruled out that it is due to infection or clogged ducts due to stone formation..
In case of infection antibiotics will be advised while clogging will be treated by surgical removal..
In case if it is lymph node then a biopsy will confirm the cause and in case if it is infection antibiotics and warm compresses will help while lymphoma that is a malignancy will be treated with radiotherapy and chemotherapy..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
