Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I have swelling in my ankles, for the past 3-4 days it has felt like I have something stuck in my throat. I have tried antacids but they to not seem to work. Yesterday I was trying to lift a heavy box and I got dizzy and light headed and things started to go black. I was able to get the box to a near by table without falling.
Hello, Thank you for asking at HCM. All the symptoms you mention seem minor in themselves but being together might indicate important issues. I do not have much information here on your age and your health in general but the swelling of the ankles both sides is not a common finding and is mostly related to heart issues. The throat sensations that do not improve with anti-acids is another sign that these might come from the heart. heart can cause pain or discomfort on the chest but also in the neck and sometimes in the left arm. Feeling lightheaded and dizzy while lifting a box might be by many reasons and heart problems might be one of them. I can not say for sure it is the heart causing these but to be sure you will need to do the following: 1. you need a heart ultrasound and ECG to check the heart functions. 2. you will need a CBC (complete blood count) to see for anemia 3. a general routine health check like measuring the lipids, sugar, creatinine in blood and electrolytes would be beneficial 4. you will need a doctor to hear to your heart and do a what is called a head to toe examination to check for the most likely reasons of the leg swelling and the throat sensations you are having.
I hope this is helpful and answers to your questions
Best regards,
Dr Antoneta
