Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Knee

I fell on my knee sideways yesterday and put all my body weight on it and I already had problems with my knee, but when I did this it hurt to put any weight on it and it still does. It hurts to bend at all and when I start bending it I feel like my knee is really tight and is going to pop and it is swollen, also before I injured it yesterday my knee would make a grinding sound when I did squats or bent down. I tried icing but it made it worse because the ice made my knee even more stiff. Should I see a doctor?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
From history it seems that there might be having degenerating changes in your knee joint and now due to injury on knee might precipitated knee damage giving more problem.
There are all chances of damaging meniscus, cartilages and alignment.
Consult orthopedic surgeon as early as possible and get examinied.
X-ray or MRI will give more accurate position of your knee joint.
Meanwhile take rest.
Avoid movement or bending at the joint.
Apply ice pack.
Ok and take care.
