Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Knee

knee is swollen slightly and very hot feeling like it s going to burst from the inside.. pain shoots down calf to the toes. behind knee and on the inside is tender to the touch.. no redness and only swelling slightly but very painful and tender and pain comes on strong when laying down and not as bad when walking on it during the day. pain comes in waves and feels like my leg is going to burst from the inside. have an appt with orthopedic surgeon on Wed but feels so painful that considering a trip to the ER. dangerous to wait until Wed? no previous injury and knee will feel fine for weeks or even a month, then flair up for one week or so.. this is the worst it s felt since it s started nearly 10 months ago. in tears from the pain at times. should I wait for appt? if it s coming and going, am I at risk of a blood clot? am i in immediate danger at all? seriously feels like my knee will just split open on its own, although swelling is not super noticeable. please advise and let me know I ll be fine until Wed!

Hi
Welcome to healhcaremagic
After going through your query I concluded that you are having nonspecific synovitis with effusion. As effusion is tense so it is causing pain. You will probably get immediate relief by aspiration of effusion. Alternatively you may get your knee arthroscopic decompression and biopsy. You need clinical examination for final decision. You can discuss your doctor about it. Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then please don't hesitate to write to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
