Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Itchy Lips

I have suffered in recent weeks from itchy, swollen lips that are turning black. I do not have a cycle anymore, so is there another explanation than the one given to the other writer with similar symptoms? I have not had a cycle of ovaries for several years. 13years for no cycle and 4 with no ovaries. Please help!

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have swollen and itchy lips which is due to Perioral Dermatitis. Dark pigmentation around lips which is mainly due to hyper pigmentation due to excessive absorption of UV rays of skin. Your skin surrounding lips is very sensitive and causing dermatitis there. I would suggest you to use hydro quinone, steroid and retinoid based triple combination cream like skinlite. Don't let that area dry and keep applying aloe vera gel or petroleum jelly on frequent basis as dry skin is major cause of hyper pigmentation. Take vitamin D3 rich tablet two times a day.Drink alot water. Protect from sun exposure and keep that area covered whenever expose to sun.Consult dermatologist once to check if anything not suiting to your skin.
