Brief Answer: ANGIOEDEMA OF THE LIP..

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you have angioedema of the lower lip leading to swollen, bruised and painful lip..
It can be caused due to a number of reasons like:
1.Allergic reaction, and the allergy can be caused by a number of things like insect bite, pollen, animal dander, certain foods and constituents of toothpaste like [sodium lauryl sulphate],certain medicines like Penicillins, sulpha drugs etc..
2.It can also be due to certain infections, and diseases like lupus and lymphoma.
3.At times it is hereditary and runs in families.

In your case it seems to be due to some known or unknown allergen..
You should consult an oral pathologist and get evaluated and to test for allergy he can advise you a blood test for allergic testing..
For angioedema the doctor can advise you with antihistamines like Allegra 6O mg twice a day..
At times Steroids like Medrol twice daily can also be advised..
Injectable antihistamines and steroid can also be given in severe cases..
Do cold packs over the lips..
Do not apply pressure over the lips..
For pain OTC anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen can be taken..

Hope this information helps..
