Suggest Treatment For Swelling At Ankle Surgery Site

I broke my ankle last october and got a metal plate and screws put in, although it was healing well it would sometimes swell when walked on to much but that was expected. Although now recently on the side where the plate was put in at the very top it has become swollen and very tender and sticks out, I dont want to over react but also dont wnt to under and bother a doctor for know reason. Is there any suggestion that could help me?

Hi, Welcome to healthcare magic . swelling for few months is inevitable after implant(plate and screw) surgery.No need to worry about it. Looking to your query it is advisable to get x-ray of ankle joint.If fracture has united then implant (metal plate +screw) removal will solve your problem.Hope my answer be of help.
