Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Pain Caused By Chalazion

Yesterday I went to a eye hospital and they diagonosed a chalazion. The doctor lifted up my eyelid and with an earbud tried to press and remove a tiny amount of pus. I have been using hot compresses and salt water baths along with a antibiotic cream which is sticky and just falls out. The whole of my eyelid is swollen and hurts to touch. How long do I wait to see a specialist if it doesn t get better and shall I keep doing the hot compresses?

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hi, I am Dr. Richa. I am an ophthalmologist. Chalazion or any. lid swellings for that matter might increase in size after handling in clinic for release of pus but it reduces on its own. I beleive that your doctor must have given you some painkillers and antiinflammatory agent to reduce the swelling down. If not, You can take a paracetamol plus ibuprofen combination. keep doing hot compression. Do you have any problem in eye movement, seeing double or not able to open your eyes or fever. If any such symptom is present, please consult your eye specialist asap.otherwise If swelling is persistent, You can consult your doctor tomorrow.take care.
