Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Bruising Due To Bee Sting

My son was stung by a bee yesterday morning between 6:15-7:00, black looking, while he was running track. When we picked him up at 4:00 pm, you could barely see anything. Now, tonight, 37 hours later, it s hugely swollen and looks like there a bruise on part of it. Is icing it fine, or should we do more?

Hi...
Thanks for the query..

As per your complain swelling at the site of bee sting after 37 hours is a delayed allergic reaction to the toxic chemical released by the bee sting inside the skin..
It is fine to do cold compresses/ icing over the stung site and along with him he should be given anti-allergic medicines like Benadryl or levocetrizine, anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen.
Do not scratch the swollen site if there is itching to prevent infection..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
