Suggest Treatment For Stomach Pain, Cough And Diarrhea In A Meth User

Hi. My son is 44 and very sick right now (terrible stomach pains, throwing up, diarrhea, feverish, can t sleep). He s a very heavy pot smoker and has been for about 20 years. He coughs terrible when he smokes. Also drinks beer excessively. He probably has ulcers but won t go to doctor. Can you tell me if the smoking is causing him to be sick and would edibles help? He s not going to quit weed. Thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello.

Yes ulcers are quite possible both due to the alcohol and smoking. I would strongly recommend a doctors visit, take him to a doctor and get him an upper GI endoscopy.

His diarrhea and other symptoms can also be due to a stomach infection or stomach upset and so I really urge you to take him to a doctor. Do not give him anything solid, spicy, oily, fried, etc. Preferably soups and other liquids and probiotics.

Best wishes
