Suggest Treatment For Stomach Flu

i have had intestinal flue for 5 days no fever just nausea and some dry heaves. feel better now but I have
severe hyperparistalsis. Tried immodium because i'd have diarrhea but since i've not been eating or drinking much tthat is minimal my dr. gave me dicyclomin 10 mg and ive taken that for 1 day and so far i am no better.
The rumbling is so active and esp after i eat or drink. i feel like something will explode. I don't have any pain and all my colonoscopy tests have been neg. i am 67 years old and healthy. I am sensitive sort of ibs at times. had my gallbladder removed at 27 so I react to high fat foods. 'what does all this mean? Is it just part of the flu syndrome?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of nausea, dry heaves, diarrhea, rumbling of intestines on eating or drinking something, Imodium and Dicyclomin did not helps, colonoscopy was normal. Gall bladder was removed in past hence do not tolerate food with high fat contents.
Your history is not suggestive of stomach flu as there are other symptoms that do not fit into flu sort of thing.
I think, this can be due to intestinal bacterial infection that is not setting and hence the complications.
I would advise you the following:
Get the stool and blood checked and if there is evidence of an infection only antibiotic, metronidazole can help you to get well.
Also needed is probiotics, activated charcoal tablets, banana and curds in diet.
Also maintain good hydration and electrolyte balance.
