Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my husband had his colon removed and a j pouch procedure done several years ago. The past 7 days he has been cramping really badly and has diarrea. He had blood work done but doctor won t prescribe pain medication until lab results are back. What can he do to stop the cramping? Imodion is not working.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history related to your husband having colon removed with J pouch and has now diarrhea, cramping. Blood work done but the Doctor will not prescribe pain medication until lab results are back . I would advise you the following in such a situation: Also send the stool for tests , as this will be the most important test. You can certainly take him to ER if your Doctor is not giving you the prescription as he is waiting for the reports, which is also partially correct. Also take an appointment of a Gastroenterologist Surgeon to have expert opinion and further management.
