Suggest Treatment For Stiffness Of Neck And Left Shoulder After Injury

I sustained a whiplash injury in a road accident in 2005-06. However, the injury came to light 2 years later when I developed pain and stiffness at the back of my neck and left shoulder. The pain and stiffness used to be worse in the mornings but gradually subsided after taking a bath and further during the day. What got me worried was a restrained movement in my left arm when I had slight difficulty in lifting it beyond a certain point over my shoulder. I consulted a physiotherapist who recommended MRI after seeing my X-ray reports and a whiplash was revealed. The treatment began and I recuperated in a matter of 2-3 weeks. I was given a set of stretching exercises by my Physiotherapist who asked me to do them regularly everyday and never stop. However, I didn t follow her advise as it seemed alright. I love fitness so I do some exercises atleast 2-3 times a week viz. pushups and crunches. A week back I think I overstrained while doing crunches though I am not sure. But the next morning I woke up, I had the same pain and stiffness at the back of my neck. Please let me know is it because of the cruches or is it because I stopped doing the exercises recommended by the Physiotherapist? Last night I also took a mobizox which relieved me a lot. Please advise.

Hi
Welcome to healhcaremagic
After going through your query I concluded that you got whiplash injury, and later probably you got cervical spondylitis, which occurred early because of whiplash. Now due to crunches you got a muscular injury which got relief after taking mobizox. I think you can continue mobizox and stop excessive excercises for few weeks. For cervical spondylitis Diacerine and glucosamine are beneficial. You can discuss with your Doctor about it. Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then please don't hesitate to write to us. I will be happy to help you.
Wishing you a good health. Take care.
