Suggest Treatment For Stiffness In The Knee

My knee has gotten hard and stiff twice now. The spot that gets hard is the upper left part. The first time it happened in the doctor s office and he gave me some muscle relaxants but they didn t do anything for it. The second time happened while I was driving. It s really hard to walk when this happens.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that you got your knee stiff twice. I think you are talking about locking of knee. Two main causes of locking are loose bodies and meniscus injury. So MRI of knee is advisable to know cause. Treatment of it is rest, icing and analgesics (diclofenac). Mobilization exercises of knee are advisable. After MRI you may need treatment of cause which may be surgical. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it. I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care.
