Suggest Treatment For Soreness In The Gluteal Region

My husband has been experiencing soreness in his gluteal region. It eases up, then becomes sore again. He is 75 and exercises little although he has begun playing tennis again. We were wondering what he should do to relieve the pain. Aleve helps, but should he put on heat, ice, do some stretching or massage the area?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
It seems that there might be having friction rub causing irritation and soreness.
Having perspiration aggravates the condition.
Nothing to worry, avoid perspiration.
Wear cotton inner wears and avoid synthetic inner wear.
Apply Caladryl lotion or triple action cream for few days.
Avoid wearing inner wear during night.
Ok and take care.
