Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat

I woke up with a really sore throat. It hurts to swallow. My voice was also very weak when I first woke. I feel like I need to cough, but do not have the urge to. I am an exclusively breastfeeding mother. I am 23 years old. What could this be and how can I medicate myself?
