Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Swollen Tonsils

Hi, I have had glandular fever for the past month and have experienced all of the symptoms but the one that is really effecting me is the sore throat from a swollen tonsil on one side. I have had an excruciating sore throat for about 4 days and my tonsils are not going down. I was wondering how much longer I will have this sore throat for or if it will get better any time soon because i can t even swallow my own saliva.

hi,
Welcome to HCM,
You have developed acute tonsillitis... you need to take antiobiotics ..tab.amox with clavulinic acid dosage according to age ( you have not mentioned )...and analgesics tab paracetamol...you will feel better...if does not come down and you are mentioning that it is one side it could be paratonsillar abscess also...in that case you should your ENT surgeon for further evaluation...
get well soon...........
