Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Post Nasal Drip

saw pa last month for sore throat, post nasal drip, red, inflamed papillae in area on side of tongue - kinda the lower area where tonsils were (removed), and funny patches (one in back of throat) and one in left arch of mouth. Told virus could last up to 21 days, given Flonase and told to gargle in salt water. Been 4-1/2 weeks... tried to see ENT but still waiting for insurance referral which is no been close to two weeks. Ear is plugged as well.

Hello,
You may have an additional infection that could benefit from medication since your symptoms still exist or have gotten worse. You may require a presription for Amoxicillin or Augmentin for an ear infection. Consider having a test for strep. You should consider calling and visiting your pa again to monitor your symptoms and obtain relief, if you can not see the ENT specialist. Anti-inflammatory medications such as Tylenol or Motrin may help reduce any inflammation.
There are also opportunistic fungal infections such as an oral east infection that can produce some of your reported symptoms. This may require the anti-fungal medication Nystatin for treatment.
Thank you for your inquiry. I hope that you will be feeling better soon.
