Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Mild Headache

I have had a sore throat and difficulty sleeping through the night for two weeks. Sore throat is better but days I feel a little woosy with mild headache and feel hot at times although no high fever.Should I go to urgent care to get a throat culture?

Hi,

Your symptoms could be due to upper respiratory tract infection, strept throat. I would suggest to consult the primary care physician and undergo throat examination, blood tests like CBC, ASO, CRP, throat swab test to rule out cause.

Following treatment will help you:

Antibiotics: Azithromycin, Tablet diclofenac and acetaminophen, Tablet prednisolone if severe.
Drink plenty of warm water. Use humidifier Strepsil throat lozenges (neem and honey flavor): take every 3 hourly. Avoid cold beverages. Do betadine gargle 2-3 time/day.
