Suggest Treatment For Sore And Numb Area After Insect Bite

I was bitten by some type of insect over a week ago. Initially the site was very itchy, but there was no bite mark (red spot). The day following bite the surrounding area became very sore (almost like a sunburn feeling) and now feels less sore but numb. What could this be?

Hello,

I can understand your concern for sore and numb area after insect bite.

It is quite usual to find soreness and numbness if the insect bite lesion is deeper. In any case if there is high soreness is present then it should be taken care of properly otherwise it can get secondarily infected.

I suggest you to not touch or pinch the area otherwise it can aggravate the situation.

In your kind of cases I prefer a pain killer tablet to be given for 2 times for 3 days. An antibiotic cream such as mupirocin or fucidin help a lot in prevention of secondary infection.

It may take 1 more week to get better. In any case if you find any yellow pus oozing then should meet your family physician for proper antibiotic coverage.

Take care.
