Suggest Treatment For Small Red Dots And Rashes On The Neck

I have a small rash, little red dots below my neck on right side, more on top of back left of my right shoulder, I had it for a week now, some numbing and mild itching, some muscle pain and heat on and off, went to doctor and he did not know what it is, he said maybe shingles, he prescribed ointment with cortisone and it has been better for four days, it also is tender if I touch the rash, I do not have blisters. I would like to know, how long it takes to spread since it hasn t and I would like to rule out shingles

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of small red dots and rashes on the neck. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like excessive sun exposure, photodermatitis, contact dermatitis , skin infection , eczema, bug bite and other medical condition . I would suggest you to stop using any cosmetic product , only apply petroleum jelly , protect your skin from sun exposure , and apply broad spectrum sunscreen when in exposure to sun . Also take over the counter antihistamine like benadryl. Consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor will examine physically , take history , order skin test for allergy and blood test . Doctor may order corticosteroid ointment , anti allergic medicine , antibiotics and may alter the dose of or prescribe substitute .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
