Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my husband has some type of growth inside his lower lip. It started off very small but over a the last year or more it has grown pretty large. He says it does not hurt but I have noticed it has become bigger. I would like for him to have it looked at but he doesn't seem to concerned. It began very small like he bit the inside of his lower lip and has now grown to the size of what I consider a very large mole!?? any Ideas and should we be concerned? He is a NON smoker and has never smoked.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain a small mole like growth on the inside of the lower lip that has increased in size can be a mucous cyst or Mucocele that is formed due to traumatic injury to minor salivary gland leading to mucous accumulation inside the lower lip.. In case if it is like a flap like growth then it can be due to soft tissue overgrowth leading to fibroma formation.. I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation should be done.. In case of mucocele concentrated salt water rinses can help.. If it does not regress then surgical excision is advisable.. In case if it is due to fibroma then it has to be excised/ removed surgically..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
