Suggest Treatment For Small Bumps On The Genital Areas

Recently I was treated for scabies. I used a permitherin cream. This got rid of the scabies. All the bumps on my body and the itching stopped. However I still have bumps on my genitals. On the shaft of my penis. If I don t touch it then it seems to go away. However after sex or masturbation or if I itch the spot it returns. I don t understand why all the other bumps went away but not these. I have been checked for STDs and don t have any. I recently tried putting table salt on it to dry the skins out but that hasn t fixed it. What is it and what do I do to make it go away?

Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic

You seem to have what is known as nodular scabies.
As the name implies, nodular scabies presents as palpable nodules on the thin skin of genitalia (scrotum and penis).
Even after adequate treatment with scabicidal like permethrin the nodules may persist for some time because they represent a form of hypersensitivity reaction to the breakdown products of mites.
They gradually would disappear with time. They may itch off and on.
However, for faster resolution, I usually recommend a topical steroid+antibiotic combination ointment, twice daily.
It is a prescription product and therefore I would suggest that you visit a dermatologist in your region.
An OTC oral antihistamine e.g cetrizine 10 mg would provide you symptomatic relief from itching.
